Entrepreneur; The First Stage of Business Networking
The First stage of business networking is building relationships. Any conversation you have professionally is very important to your business. Your goal of business networking is to understand your contact’s problem or concerns while collecting their contact information.
Every Business contact you make becomes an advertisement for your business. Not unlike any other type of relationship, there can be consistent doubt in the beginning. How do you begin your business networking? Please read further to find out how to get started.
1. Gain the confidence to inform other Entrepreneur’s who you are, what you do, and why you do it. Articulate your special talent to potential clients and possible new contacts.
2. Identify your business goals before attending any type of professional event. This will enable you to choose the professional event which is right for your business. You do not want to be wondering around looking confused or lost at a professional event.
3. Collect as many business cards as possible. I want to stress that you should not push your cards onto other entrepreneurs. I know you might be thinking this is odd however, remember that business networking is about gaining contact information, not selling your business.
4. When you meet contacts, utilize the time in gaining information about them. Ask about their concerns with their own businesses, problems they might be experiencing, area’s which your business can fulfill the needs of their business and most importantly, their contact information.
5. Attend networking events and meetings which are hosted by local groups in your area. Ensure that you RSVP if this is mandatory. Plan on introducing yourself to potential contacts and bring your business cards and something to write on. Ask basic open-ended questions which require more than a yes or no reply. Listen intently to your potential contacts. You are building business relationships.
6. Visit with as many groups as possible which you are interested in. Take note of the attitude in the meetings. The members should be supportive of each other with constructive leadership.
7. Volunteer your time with organizations that greatly interest you. This will enable you to be visible while helping those who have helped you.
This is a great start with your business networking. Follow these tips and you will find yourself able to gain the contacts needed for your business.
