Many issues can lead to problems within your companies with your employees. Sometimes these issues begin very small but fester into something very huge. You need to remember that your company is your reputation and your clients and customers rely on the quality of work which your employees perform.
If they do not come through, then you must get rid of them. You must first demand high quality from yourself as a business owner therefore; you will not be a hypocrite for demanding such high standards from your employees.
Firing an employee is never an easy task. Before you terminate anyone from your company, you must first truly understand why you are firing them. You need to write a checklist and have this checklist with you when you fire them. If you have a contract with the person whom you are wanting to fire, ensure that you read it in advance while making sure you are not violating the contact which you both entered into at the beginning of employment.
If the person you are firing has access to passwords and financial information, ensure that you have the passwords changed as well as credit cards cancelled etc. Ensure that you have copies of all documents and files before you fire the employee. This is called safeguarding yourself and your company.
Ensure you get any keys to the building and office from the employee you fire. If they do not have the keys, then change all the locks and keys while informing the terminated employee if they cannot come up with the keys then they have to pay for such services for your business.
